SPRING CLEANING!

Posted by

Spring is finally here; A season that reminds us of how beautiful nature truly is, as leafs bud on trees, flowers start to bloom, and the grass regains its plush green color.  It seems that the season change is a great motivator in people becoming more active outside and enjoying the weather.  After all, the sunshine is great motivation to get outside and enjoy the weather.  As the season changes from Winter to Spring, I am seeing some of the same trends in the staffing industry.   Candidates are becoming more active in their job search, willingness to field calls, and commitment to pursue new ventures.

I can’t tell you how refreshing it is to talk to “new” candidates.   As a recruiter, I source candidates from a variety of different avenues, one of which is the job boards. (Monster, Career Builder, Dice)   The same candidates are constantly on the “boards.”

Folks who keep their resume posted on a regular basis, here is a little advice…Give it a break!   Take your resume down, do a quick spring cleaning (give it a new look, add new bullet points, reformat it) and then put it back up.   Trying something new will help your efforts in finding new employment.

With that being said, if you are an individual who is not on the boards on a regular basis, but interested in getting your feelers out in your local market…. Post your resume.  If you are a new name, new resume, and quality candidate, you will likely get 20+ calls within the first week.  A new name and resume is incredibly valuable in today’s market.  We recruiters are sick and tired of seeing the same names and same boring resumes.  We want something new and finally it seems that the season is changing for us.    So as nature wakes up from its hibernation, I urge you to do the same.  Today’s IT market is booming and companies are starting to approve their budgets for new projects.  Do yourself a favor and see if the grass is truly greener on the other side!
